rights article...being completly honest, I really didnt like this article too much and it took me forever to get through it. I think the reason for that is because I am not a big history person and really dont like that stuff too much which is why I dont take those classes and avoid it when possible. But there were some things that I thought were interesting and would be a good idea to use. The first thing was when they were talking about having the teachers live in the district that they are working in. From my own experiences, I know a lot of teachers who actually do this already including my family. I dont really know if this was exactly planned or not because they have lived in the same house since they have gotten married but it does happen to be in the district where my brother and I have gone to school and he teaches as well as coaches. My dads assisstant coach also lives with his family in the same area where he teaches and I know of others who have their houses in the same district as they teach and also the same where their children are going to school. I think that this would be something positive to have because this would be a better way to encorporate culturally relevant things in the teaching since they will be around and know what goes on in that area. I think that this is a good idea and would help to show that the teachers are the same as the children because they can live in the same neighborhoods and arent that much better than anyone. This would also just let the teachers be accostomed to the schools and pride that is formed, but not only at home but also at the school. This would make sure there isnt any contradictions on who they are cheering for in sporting events and would build a strong relationship with the kids. The other thing that I thought was interesting was just a general comment about how there is almost a law or court case that has taken place and been passed for every little thing that one could think of when it comes to the rights and jobs of a teacher. I thought this was amazing to know that so many people have been through certain situaitons that have led to cases and make up what is expected of teachers all over or at least have set some kinds of guidelines for what is to be done. I think this is interesting and can show that someone else has probably gone through the same thing that you are going through which you can look to for help on what is to be done. I think that this article is a good one where there are a lot of things that can be applied to teaching, even though it takes a long time to get through it with all the talking about the cases and history.
