special teachers...everything that was talked about and read in the article I think can be related to almost all of the previous blogs I have had and things that I have experienced in my own life. When talking about making a subject interesting, I can very much relate because of an experience that I had my senior year when taking an AP Chemistry class. I was never sure why I enjoyed this subject so much but it seemed to come easy for me and so I decided to take this class since it looks good on transcripts. However, this was an encounter with the worst teacher I have ever had and I know there are many other students who also think the same way as I do. She would not help us to understand the lessons more and would go over things once and would always use the same method which would be one that no one could follow so people were still very confused. However, I had a great science teacher for some other classes and since she was in charge of the department I figured that I would ask her for help because she was a great teacher. Well, I went in and would meet with her almost every day and she was the only reason I was able to understand the information that I was being tested on and was able to half way tolerate the test. She was willing to try a variety of approaches to see what would work the best for me and my learning style which is really what I needed since the teachers was just not working for me. I am so thankful for this teachers who was willing to work with me because she helped me to learn the course material as well as help me to get through the class which I can now look back on as a learning experience because of going through everything that I did. I can tell that even in an area which seems to be able to only be taught one way, there really is always a loop hole if the teacher really trys to look for it and help everyone out. These teachers of mine which were able to bring more into the class room then just the idea that I am better than you and what I says goes and thats the way it is were the ones that I learned the most from even if it wasnt about the subject matter. They showed me that they were also people with thoughts, feelings, and that there is more to them than just telling you about an area in school. If I was going to be a teacher I would try to be more like them because it allows for a more open class and a place where kids can feel safe to be themselves.
