excited kids....as I was observing yesterday afternoon, I felt as though you could tell that it was a Friday, right before the children got dismissed for the weekend by the actions that were going on and the amount of activity that was taking place that usually does not. I was amazed at how talkative and how much the kids wanted to move around and do anything but sit in their seats and be quiet to work on some assignments. However, there were some good things that I could see coming from this time. A group of the girls came up to me when we were on our break (which I was overseeing in the hallway) and started to talk to me about things that had to do with observing as well as just about me as a person which I was able to use to talk to them and get to know some more things about them as people outside of the classroom. I was very happy with this because it shows that they are being more comfortable around me and are willing to talk to me and it is ok. I also had a girl who is in the other class that I am observing because of the schedule that is used who came up to me just to talk even though she wasnt in the class with me. I thought this was cool since she took the time to communicate with me and talk even though I was not in her class since I had made that connection to her when I was in the same class as her. This to me shows that I have done a good job of forming those relationships to the point that they are able to talk to me and its ok and are willing to share stuff about their days and lives when not in the room as a student. I also helped the kids work on the bio poems that they are writing which was a way for me to learn about how they see themselves and what they think describes them the best. I was able to find out about their likes and thoughts about their world without having to ask them directly which I think is good because I can remember what I found out and use that when I am talking with them and figuring out the approach to take with that student because I think that it is important to use whatever approach is needed to get to know the student the best and help them as much as I can in the way that will benefit them the most. I wish that I would be able to stay with these classes for the whole year because I feel as though right when I am starting to get to know them the most and they are opening up to me, is the time when I am going to be leaving and not going to see them since I will be switching places of my observing.
