I thought that class today was very easy to relate to my own life and therefore made it more enjoyable. We talked about the parent interaction which I have been able to view from various aspects. Being in my own situation with my parents who were very involved with every thing that I did, even to these days. Then I had those friends who have parents who live very far away from them due to moving. I have also watched some of my friends who have the parents who really couldnt care at all about the kids and the activities that they are participating in. This I think is a really sad situation and wish it would have been different for them. I think that the book made some great points about different areas and the ones that I thought was the most interesting was about the teachers making up their own curriculum based on the area that they were teaching in to accomidate for those they are teaching. This is interesting because then the idea of standardized tests would not be able to judge everyone across the board because different kids are learning a variety of things because of where they live which may not be the same as others. This helps me to prove my feelings more that these tests are not the best way to assess kids.
